Midnight Madness’ Female MVP Ejay Ofomata continues to wave the flag for British female basketball after her performance in Portugal has been recognised and celebrated by Eurobasket who awarded her Player of the Week.

Recognised as the No.1 leading global basketball website for the best coverage across 193 countries and 435 leagues, Eurobasket’s attention towards Ofomata is a great confirmation of the female basketball talent within the UK. This being said, Ofomata has done exceedingly well to be rewarded for her game as this achievement speaks volumes about her talent in comparison to the other players world wide.

The British star has been impressing everyone all summer long after participating in this year’s Midnight Madness annual tournament, an event renowned as the UK’s biggest basketball competition. From battling it out in the MM National Women’s Final and then on the first MM Female Travel Team, Ofomata proved she was more than capable of playing at an international level which has been highlighted by her recent performance in Portugal.

Following on from a successful summer, Midnight Madness facilitated an unique and life changing opportunity for Ofomata to play professionally for Portugal’s Pro A team, CAB Madeira. After signing the contract to play pro in September 2015, Ofomata has gone from strength to strength. Her latest success was seen in her game against Benfica where she came away with a solid 18 points and six rebounds, all contributing to CAB Madeira’s overall victory of 80-74.

This impressive win stood out to Eurobasket as well as CAB Madeira, who has titled her their best player in the season so far with an average of 16 points and 6 rebounds a game.

It is clear that CAB Madeira have found a gem in Ofomata as the team currently hold a solid 5-1 record and so sit in second place in the Portuguese Basketball League

Ofomata said, “It’s an absolute honour to be named Eurobasket Player of the Week, and I am so grateful to God for it. I owe it all to my team as everyone at CAB Madeira are working hard and coming together as a unit. it’s the beginning of an exciting experience that all started with Midnight Madness this summer. Again, I hope this achievement goes to show that hard work and determination is a great recipe for success and I’m proof that #ThisGirlCan.”
