Midnight Madness’ Female Champion Ejay Ofomata, led her team to climb the top of the ladder and sit first place in the Portuguese League after CAB Madeira triumphed over GDESSA to finish 88-70.

The MM Female MVP dominated the game throughout, finishing with an outstanding 27 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists, to knock Portuguese opponents, GDESSA, off the top spot and allow CAB Madeira to take their rightful place after winning by an incredible 18 point margin.

‘It’s such an amazing achievement to be at the top of the league,’ Ofomata said. ‘It’s not about how you start but how you finish and our goal is to finish stronger than how we started. It’s now that the real hard work starts. Getting here me was tough, but it’s going to be tougher to keep the position.’

Ofomata joined the Portuguese pro club after her success last summer playing at Midnight Madness – the UK’s annual biggest basketball competition that showcases the best in hoops and entertainment. After winning at the MM Women National Final, Ofomata made history on the first ever MM Female Travel Team where she was scouted and signed by CAB Madeira.

‘Midnight Madness is more than a basketball competition, but a vehicle that can change your life dramatically,’ Ofomata said. ‘The success of doing well with Midnight Madness has enabled me to achieve my goal of continuing to play basketball abroad. Leaving Tower Hamlets and living in Portugal is a massive change and I do miss home. But I’m here for a reason as being able to represent the women, in what is considered a male dominated sport, is always an honour and a privilege.’
