MM Qualifiers London College Winners

MM College always produces some of the best games seen at Midnight Madness events, with the age group that profiles the generation most ready to take over centre stage.  The first London qualifier continued that trend.

With 7 England & GB Internationals competing in the mix, the quality of competition was set.  Strong guard play for GB U20 Internationals Jordan Spencer and Elvisi Dusha set the tone which was continued on by the energetic Kevin Moyo and athletic Tyrell Isaacs.

It was a welcomed return to MM action for Raheem May-Thompson who proved his game is still to be reckoned with and could be a valuable find for the right BBL team looking for athleticism and intangibles to add to their mix.  Joel Henry continued to prove there is way more to his game than just his explosive dunking ability, showing great range on his jump shot and improved ability to get to the rim.  Anthony Okereafor eased his way through the competition with one of the better offensive skills sets on display on the day and will be a force to be reckoned with at the All-Nighter, without doubt.

Tyrell Isaacs continues to cement his reputation as one of the most gifted players of his age group, playing under control, on balance and jabbing opponents with his deadly mid-range game and ‘hard to guard’ athletic ability.  However the standout player on the day was undoubtedly Jordan Spencer who orchestrated his teams to win after win, making the right play at the right time throughout the competition.  Looking like a much more complete and mature player this year,  Spencer consistently hit his outside shots, controlled tempo, got into the lane at the right times and showed an improved ability to make plays for his team mates.  Unsurprisingly, Spencer not only finished on top of the leaderboard for the College division, but logged the highest score of all competitors in opening weekend across all competitions.
