WATT A STORM: THUNDER TAKE ON DERBY IN THEIR LAST GAME OF THE YEAR

Worthing Thunder were unstoppable last weekend, beating Loughborough Students Riders to secure their place in the National Cup Final, right after beating Bradford Dragons in what proved to be an incredibly exciting game (see highlights above).

This weekend, Worthing Thunder bring the year 2015 to a close with an away trip to the Derby Trailblazers in a National Basketball League, Division 1 encounter on Saturday evening.

Thunder are currently 3-6 in the league so far this season and will look to inflict a second defeat of the season on the Trailblazers, who are currently 7-1.

Worthing will also look to continue their two-game winning streak after a double victory weekend last week against the Bradford Dragons, which was followed up with a victory in the National Cup semi-final against Loughborough Student Riders.

“We will be looking to continue our mini run after last weekend and hope to use some of that confidence against a well rounded Derby side,” Thunder coach Daniel Hildreth said.

Derby are no doubt one of the frontrunners for the league crown this season and currently lie in second place in the table behind the Manchester Magic.

Hildreth knows that Thunder have to perform solidly in order to get the win at Noel Baker.

“Dan and David Watts have proved to be a handful for most teams this season but the entire Derby side are very team orientated,” Hildreth explained.

“We will no doubt have to match that team ethic and play for the full 40 minutes and we have a great chance of leaving Derby with the win.”

Tip off on Saturday in Derby is at 7:15pm.
